The presentation is lovely and the recipes are delicious. Yes the recipes are often higher in fat and have some seemingly odd and definitely not gourmet flavor profiles. I'm not saying that the new version might not be good but as an old hippie from the 1970's, I loved so many of these dishes as originally written. My original book did not have prestine white paper like the new one, and somehow does not quite have the feel of a handwritten book like the original, but this of course is my own personal preference. I love this book; I purchased it to replace the one that I wore out!! But these healthy, wholesome recipes stand the test of time. I bought this book as a replacement for my very battered and much loved copy that I’d originally purchase in the eighties. I bought the original in 1992, and one of my brothers is always asking for recipes from it. Book was as good as new. I will make parts of meals days in advance using her advice, then I will make the meals on the days I need them, with half the work already done.
