I stopped writing practice essays a long time ago. Same! (Note: You do not need a 133 on either portion – a higher essay score could make up for a lower MBE score. My Themis advisor said to "complete 85% to have a good chance of passing the Bar", but I'll be happy if I get past 75% as it recommended on the 'sticker'. My score on OPE1 was ~18 percentage points higher than Practice Test 4; OPE4 was +10ish. Don't overthink & have faith. So mostly what we use is speculation. I was still terrified to take it, and frankly shocked when I passed. This means you are not taking a Barbri or Kaplan “simulated MBE” test.
For the other half, just know generally what each branch of the fed is responsible for, and then what the fed govt can/can't do. On the other hand, looking at difficulty of individual questions it feels like the average question is at 1/3 difficulty which was easier than i was expecting. I obviously haven't taken the bar so my guess is as good as anyones, but I read a post about how preppers tend to fall for the mistake of lulling themselves into a sense of comfort by focusing only on their strengths and then get rocked when it's time to perform. We also have them compiled into a 200-question exam so you can see how you perform on real MBE questions. The reason I ask is because I found some threads saying that the sets will self-adjust difficulty downwards if they think you've been doing poorly and need the morale boost. I'm at 33% (lol) but I've been doing lots that doesn't get counted in the completion percentage. So I don’t know about essays or algorithms, and I don’t know the answer to OP’s question, but I can say with a lot of confidence (although not 100%) that the Themis PQ sets are not all the same for everyone. If you are in a state that scores on a 200-point scale, then usually a passing score is whatever the overall score is. You can get a “D-” in many states and still pass. i just bought them yesterday and they arrived today. Been mainly studying through Themis, but I've also been using the critical pass flashcards since I feel like they state the black letter law better and more succinctly than any of Themis' outlines or lectures. I still feel like I know nothing.
The good news is: you do not need to score an “A” “B” or “C” to pass the MBE. they are too different from the outlines i've formed from themis lecture/practice questions to use at this point imo. Slight deviations, sure. (For example, a passing bar exam score in Michigan is 135. For example, New York requires a 266 to pass. TL;DR-I'm creating reasons to freak out before the bar exam and just need someone to tell me that themis MBE mixed sets are a decent approximation of the actual difficulty of the exam. Starting on Monday, I'm going to focus on writing attack plans for each subject, reading the final review outlines, and trying to do as many practice MBEs/essays I can fit in. I'm a Themis student who switched to using NCBE questions because I found Themis questions utterly exasperating.
In almost every state, a higher essay score can make up for a lower MBE score. The reason I say this is because I speak frequently with other Themis users and we often ask each other about questions on these PQs and, although we’ve taken the same PQs, not all of us have seen the same questions.
