You can also take little cutting off existing plants, strip the leaves to about 3 pinch out the tips and just stick in the ground after making a little hole with a pencil pop the cutting in and just firm the soil back.
I have not been on here for a while and thought I would like to say Hello again to everyone, and tell you all what I … I'll put a couple of photos up so you can see them - they are such a vibrant colour! I cut the complete seed pod off and keep it in a dish until I have quite a few of them collected. Pinch the drying seed pods from the plant by hand, or snip them off with a pair of scissors. What I have found when I do that they don't always have the same colour and are a little bit smaller. Set the pods out onto a paper towel for a few days to be sure that they are fully dry.

Why collect them just sprinkle them around you can never have too many violas and pansy plants. Plastic storage can cause seeds to mould, spoil or become diseased as it does not allow proper air circulation. Collect and Sow Seeds When you can feel through the covering that the pod has opened, snip the pansy stem and take the sack indoors to open it over a paper towel. The piece I cut off makes a good plant label and if you place the spout at the bottom it provides good drainage too, don’t forget to unscrew and remove the plastic lid though ;-). Here are some violas that I have growing in my shed windowbox. You will be able to retrieve some of the seeds if they haven't fallen from the plant. Now that it is sunny again I love popping out into the garden and collecting my Pansy and Viola seeds, so that I have my own supply for sowing next year. I spend a few hours a day on my allotment & as it's often in the evening it means I can't be on here at the same time!
