The action set-pieces are great and everything seems to click. ROGUE! The story comes together very well.
The fact that none of those bonus features are included in this set isn't cause for disappointment. ROGUE! ROGUE! ROGUE! But this BluRay has more than enough substance to be worth the purchase. ROGUE! If you watched the first X-Men series, and like the first two (and especially the second film), I think you're guaranteed to love this one. blare from my TV, I was hooked.
ROGUE! The time travel, the future, the last battle scene, etc. Perhaps missing a little dirt and grit in favour of studio perfection the scenes in the sixties look fantastic and are lit at times with a bizarrely Kubrick type black and white palette.
Besides that there were some scenes/dialogue that were extended, but they weren't necessary. However the extended scenes are not that noticeable until Rogue is introduced in the third act which definitely adds a slight twist to the film, especially by fleshing out what was already an enjoyable film. ROGUE! ROGUE!
Despite a fast paced action sequence at the beginning of the film, the future set scenes remain lifeless with a seen-it-all-before design approach. The packaging indicates that the release is region A coded.
There's a problem loading this menu right now. Similarly, Peter Dinklage is a bit underutilized as Bolivar Trask, the man who invents the Sentinels -- but his 70s mustache alone is enough to warrant his screen time.
ROGUE! Apart from that, the additions to the Rogue Cut are mostly minor and superfluous - an extra line here and a quick snippet there. While the remainder of the movie can't quite measure up to the kinetic fun of this scene, the rest of the runtime is filled with solid action as well, with some cool and brutal fight scenes set in the dystopian future that do a great job of highlighting the X-Men's powers. The Blu-ray: Vital Disc Stats20th Century Fox brings 'X-Men: Days of Future Past - The Rogue Cut' to Blu-ray in a 2-Disc set that comes housed in a keepcase with a cardboard slipcover. There's plenty of oomph to the audio, but never to the point where the dialogue or score are drowned out.
It adds character, motivation, and cohesiveness to the story. The only omission in this set is the lack of a 3D version of the Rogue Cut. ROGUE! ROGUE! Despite their dazzling powers their on screen presence does not spark as much excitement. The time travel also potentially renders many of the previous movies' irrelevant (not a bad thing when it comes to 'The Last Stand'), especially the most recent 'Wolverine' flick, and it's unclear exactly how things occurred in the new timeline we are left with. The differences helped make the film easier and more fun to watch. ROGUE!
Thankfully so because the sixties set action is where the entertainment and more involving characters are. But it also actually has heart and isn't too much of a CG mess.
And while Wolverine acts as our link between time periods, the filmmakers resist the urge to make Jackman the definitive star. It definitely highlights the neon colors mixed with the dark and blue tones of the future. For all intents and purposes, this is the exact same video presentation from the previous release and all of the new scenes feature comparable quality. And of course, it nearly goes without saying that Hugh Jackman is once again right at home as Wolverine. With that said, the majority of the runtime actually takes place in 1973, putting most of the emphasis on the younger cast.
One of these is a nine part documentary called "Mutant vs. Machine" that covers all aspects of the film's development from scripting to filming to editing to release. Days of Future Past starts out after Last Stand and things have gotten grim. The franchise then had new life with X-Men: First Class (2011). Does the extended cut add anything new to the film? ROGUE!
ROGUE! Who was to say how much Days of Future Past might be enhanced with a few extra scenes and a deeper focus on some of the X-Men of the future? This is the version to own, at least until the inevitable re-re-release next year.
ROGUE! There isn't much I can say that hasn't already been stated in other reviews, and you get both the Rogue Cut and the Theatrical Release which is excellent.
While the 'Rogue Cut' is a fantastic extra inclusion for fans, the theatrical edit still works best overall. Singer and Kinberg handle commentary for the theatrical version, while Singer is joined by Ottman for the Rogue Cut commentary (which is geared a little more towards the technical side of things). The main disc makes up for the lack of a commentary track on the previous release with two separate tracks. Let’s try and be honest with each other here though.

The future and the past never looked so good. Is any of it necessary? This definitive version gives more back story, and more insight to what the writers, and the film maker was trying to present. ROGUE!
