It was welcoming and clean and the room was spacious and comfortable. Today my friend and I visited the the Duxton Hotel in Perth’s CBD for high tea. The lunch cruise was very pleasant, and enhanced in a big way by the very personable waiter who became the entertainer for the return trip down the river. The laundry was excellent, and the staff helpful and friendly. There are four bus routes throughout the centre city which are free and it cost $2.00 ($1.70 for seniors) to travel by train to Fremantle.We went to Rottnest Island, to the Pinnacle Desert (with a stop at New Norcia) and did a lunch river cruise up the Swan River. I was taken to the Duxton for their high tea for my birthday. Venue: The Duxton Hotel is a beautiful and luxurious five-star hotel. Stayed for business - room was really looking tired and amenities were limited. Would only be a 3 star in an Asian city like Singapore but charging 5 star rates. Service was not very personal but efficient. It certainly meets 4.5 star standard having stayed at quite a few hotels that have claimed to be 5 star and have turned out to offer considerably less than you would expect. Sleep quality for us is most important and fortunately was excellent after a stack of travelling leading up to this stay. Will I stay here again for business? The restaurant was beautifully presented, and the food delightful and well presented.
The only thing curiously out of place was the tiny little TV panel for such a great big room.The hotel offered complimentary wifi which is important to some guests. The reception area for the hotel is very beautiful. Air con worked well and the block out curtains did the trick. There are no family rooms on te club floors, so I had presumed there wouldn't be young kids in the club.
