This story starts out rather lighthearted but after the attack on Osden, the crew is fearful of unknown dangers on this strange planet. This is actually the last story published in this collection and was written around 1974.
There's however a caveat.

When they reach their target planet, Osden is sent to work individually in the forest but is found unconscious in the woods several days later. That narrator hinted at more than she said; Atwood seemed to trust readers to fill in the gaps.
